Appear, Disappear, Reappear

Problem: Exhibitions are not accessible to people with sight loss, making it difficult for the author, Roger Cowell, to share his story about Charles Bonnet Syndrome.

Insight: Sight loss isn’t always experienced as total darkness; many people still perceive light, colour and movement.

Process: Collaborated with the design team to develop concepts into refined final outputs, designed the first section and worked closely with the Creative Director on the installation build.

Creative Director: David Collins

Team: Erin Williams, Eve McFarlane Salvo, Dipo Akinse, Jess Plunkett, Emily Haigh, Lauren Entwisle, Julia Sobieraj,

Akam Hussein Rustam, Freddie Saynor

My ideas: A fragmented monochrome portrait with interactive doors, revealing hidden truths from the start of Roger’s story through light and interaction.

Hanging wooden slats showing Roger’s story in Portuguese from one side and English from the other, creating an inclusive experience for all visitors, including cleaners who see this daily.

A series of specially designed glasses to alter the viewer’s perception of light and visuals, creating a unique, sensory-driven experience.
