Problem: The invite needed to give guests a taste of the boogie, while showing the couple’s love for wildlife and telling their Kenya engagement story.

Solution: Mixing special snapshots from their Kenya engagement with a playful style.

Process: Wildlife experiences had always been a big part of their relationship, from their first date at a zoo to their engagement on a safari trip, so I knew this was my main focus for generating ideas. When I showed them my sketch ideas, their eyes lit up at the two zebras, which we had previously laughed about being the couple in another life. I created a rough sketch of this in Procreate and then brought it into Illustrator, where I used the Pen Tool to create vectors. I decided to change my initial idea of a hut and palm tree to a disco ball to add a party vibe. It also created more white space, making the invite easier to read and giving the design more room to breathe. I also chose to hand-draw a font to make the invite feel personal and warm.
